28 Weeks

How far Along:
28 weeks.
How big is baby: Between 13.6 and 14.8 inches, the size of an eggplant.
Maternity Clothes: Yes.
Sleep: Great most nights.  I only wake up once a night on average, but I do miss sleeping on my back.
Best Moment thus far: Watching baby move.  He is not as active as Rachel was, but he still gets some good punches in.
Miss Anything: Nope
Food Cravings: Hard boiled eggs, a little weird since I am not super crazy about them normally, but they just sound so yummy.
Anything make you queasy or sick: No
Symptoms:  Overall I am great and have pretty typical symptoms.   You know more tired and various aches and pains
Mood: Back to my happy self
Looking forward to: Finalizing his name.  Brian wants to wait until May to make a decision, but I am hoping we can make a decision sooner so I can stop calling him baby.

Easter Story

Rachel and I have been preparing for Easter during Tot school this past week by learning the Easter story.  Enjoy her sharing the story of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection.   She surprised me by retelling the story.  You may have to turn your sound up a little bit because she is facing away from the camera.

Dyeing Eggs

Rachel and I dyed eggs again this year and managed not to have any accidents with the dye.  Last time we used food coloring for a craft it got spilled all over the kitchen cabinets.  It was a pain the clean up and the inside of one of the cabinet doors still has some subtle red streaks.  I got smart this time and we did it outside.  I hard boiled 6 eggs for Rachel.  She would have done more, but you never know what will hold a toddler's attention and for how long.  I loved the idea we saw last year of using a whisk to dip the eggs.  It really seems to help prevent mess.  We only dripped a little on her plastic table which wiped right off.  As a mentioned we used food coloring again this year.  I seriously contemplated making natural dyes from food, but decided that for the amount of eggs we were dyeing it wasn't worth the extra cost or time.  Plus Rachel still struggles with leaving the eggs in the dye for any length of time, and it seemed like with natural dyes the eggs have to sit in them.

Rachel was very proud of her eggs when they were done.

Magical Memories

Last month we visited Disneyland for 2 days.  We had a blast and it was extra special to share the memories with my family.  We all stayed at the Candy Cane Inn down the street.  They had a complimentary shuttle that ran every 30 minutes all day long which made it really easy to get to and from the park without driving.  Hotel location is really important when you still have a toddler who needs a nap (or a pregnant mama).  Rachel and I headed to the hotel every afternoon for a couple of hours while everyone else got to stay and enjoy the park.  Plus their complimentary breakfast is really extensive.  I actually could have found enough to eat without bringing my own breakfast.

Rachel had a great time last time we went, but this time she absolutely loved it.  Several weeks later she is still talking about seeing Lightning McQueen and Mater, the pretend ghosts in the Haunted Mansion, spinning on the teacups, seeing the Queen of Hearts get angry on Alice in Wonderland, going up and down on the carousel, seeing Nemo on the Submarines, and riding in the pink monkey cage on the Casey Jr. Train.  It is so much fun to sit with her and recall memories and experiences.  She loved seeing her Grandma and Grandpa Short, Uncle David, Aunt Sarah, and Titus.  She already has plans to go back and take her Grammy with her next time.
